The boiling point of a liquid refers to the temperature when its saturated vapor pressure is equal to the external pressure. Simply put, it is the temperature at which the liquid boils under a standard atmospheric pressure. Vacuuming to reduce the pressure in the system can lower the boiling point of the liquid, which is the theoretical basis for the vacuum distillation operation.
