10 liter industrial short path distillation
One of the purest forms of processing in the short-path distillation industry is the short-path distillation process. This process is further employed once the oil is produced using the CO2 or BHO process. First, a process called winterization uses an alcohol bath (usually ethanol) and a sub-zero temperature to freeze the oil, which causes a large amount of fat and wax to separate from the essential oil. The material was then filtered multiple times to remove impurities. In the final step, remove all traces of alcohol during the winter and filter the oil again to get the cleanest product.
The heat is used to evaporate the cannabinoids, the steam is introduced into the cooling system, it is returned to the liquid, and the cannabinoids are collected into a beaker, a process known as fractional distillation or short-path distillation. This allows the separation of the purest forms of terpenes and cannabinoids because of the removal of plant matter and residual solvents. The rest is a clear, clean concentrate that is as thick as honey or sap, containing nearly 100% cannabinoids. The fractionation process will make the custom concentrate possible because it separates different compounds such as terpenes, oils and cannabinoids. They can then be recombined in the laboratory to produce more specific concentrates in terms of flavor characteristics or cannabinoid content.
